Advantages of Yoga Asanas

There are a lot of yoga asanas that are helpful to our posture. All things considered, yoga asanas possess a lot of advantages as to improve our health and give us proper alignment. We might not take notice of our bad posture, If we continue that for a long period and not do anything about it.

Yoga asanas are good to strengthen our body, If you practice yoga asanas everyday, it is expected that your posture will correct itself. Yoga asanas may relieve sciatica. These are pains that can be prevented, If you do yoga, perhaps you will not see any back or muscle pains.

The asanas are a way of preparing ourselves to more fully meet the challenges of life in a way that does not throw us off balance, and increases our capacity to adapt to those changes that are inherent in life. They allow us to be more sensitive and aware to what is really going on inside us, and in life itself.

Knowledge Is Power

This growing self-knowledge then provides us with a more complete picture in which our responses to whatever situations confront us more accurately reflects what is truly present. There is a deeper engagement that goes beyond the vacancies of the mind, the self-doubt, the domination of our preconceptions and expectations, or our need for something to be a certain way.

The best technique for any person contemplating to take up yoga is not to contemplate but to concentrate – on how yoga and its asanas is growing into a worldwide phenomenon where yoga asanas are helping to all who seek peace of mind.

Understanding Yoga

Meditative state

Understanding yoga is a lot less complicated than you could imagine but if you are thinking of taking up the practice then there are some yoga asanas you need to be aware of and apply throughout the practice. Yoga is without a doubt one of the most effective exercises performed to today in helping people to stay in shape and to keep fit and healthy.

You will be surprised how yoga fits into your daily way of life due to the fact that is can be practiced almost anywhere and any time People are genuinely taking more and more interest in keeping their fitness levels at a point where they are gaining a healthier lifestyle and this is all thanks to yoga. Yoga techniques are beneficial in helping your organs, muscles, joints, glands, and tissues.

5 Practices

There are 5 yoga practices which you may include into your workout these are meditation, relaxation, deep breathing, posture and movement of the joints. Every one of these yoga functions has it’s own benefits. This is performed and solely directed by yoga followers towards easing the joints.

Joints are freed from stiffness by undergoing and practicing full movements which consist of hand neck and lower limb movements.

Your muscles ache from a good stretch. This is quite normal and is part of the process. Stretching has seemingly been with us and particular with athletes since the beginning of time.

Key points

Stretching helps us to avoid injuries. Not only that but if you do have a muscle, tendon or ligament injury it should heal faster, theoretically speaking.

Stretching actually grows the ligaments, tendons and muscles being stretched. They really grow longer over time.

Queen of Asanas

With our daily demands and commitments, most of us might not have the time to perform so many poses therefore we should focus on the one that is of the most benefit for daily practice and that is the Shoulder-Stand known in Sanskrit as Savangasana the queen of asanas.

Inverted poses reverse the action of gravity on the body. Instead of everything being pulled towards the feet, the orientation shifts towards the head. On emotional levels the Shoulder Stand turns everything upside down throwing a new light on old patterns of behavior.

It improves health, reduces stress and anxiety and increases mental power and also increases self-confidence. In addition, the abdominal organs, liver, spleen, stomach, kidneys and pancreas receive a powerful massage helping them work better.

In Sanskrit, Sarvanga means all parts so as the name suggests, it affects all the bodily organs. It stimulates the thyroid gland, balancing the circulatory, digestive, nervous, reproductive and endocrine systems. It is indeed a panacea, a cure all.

Obesity Is alleviated by this pose as well as constipation and enlargement of the liver and the spleen.

Yoga can be simple!

balancing pose

Yoga is a trans-formative practice, and simple. Although the advanced yoga postures maybe difficult for the beginner. The changes that yoga can bring into one’s life belie the apparent simplicity of stretching muscles.

But in yoga, through the breath, and focusing on it within our body, we come to a greater understanding of both our body and ourselves. We begin a more conscious relationship with our individuality.

We meet that unique expression of ourselves expressing physically in that moment. We are able to begin a process of changing that which is blocking the vital flow of our energy.

Conclusion

back bend

That is why it doesn’t matter what state we are in when we begin practicing a yoga asana. We might be more or less stiff, or in pain, or distracted, than usual. It is a journey of discovery, not of trying to fit ourselves into an external idea, even if that idea is represented in that moment by the yoga asana we are trying to do.

When we are distracted or preoccupied with doubts, worries, and fears, and even hope that is attached to an outcome, the vital energy of our whole being is confused. Through yoga asana, we are able to clear the mind, to redirect our confused energy within, to sit within the body, our being, again.

This is an energetic aspect of self-mastery. Integral to this is the knowledge of oneself as whole, and simultaneously a part of the wholeness that is within everything.

  1. Great article. It wasn’t until the first time that I did yoga that I truly gained a respect for all of those that practice it. My girlfriend and I want to get back into doing yoga, as we fell out of doing it. But it really is a great way to stretch out your muscles and find inner balance, clarity and mental relaxation. By ‘Ansanas’, do you mean positions?

  2. Hi Shane,

I have read the article, watched the video and navigate a little.

You got my interest a lot!

I had a mild stroke 3 years ago, going on the fourth year. I had a physical therapist for one year and then after that, I just continued the exercises taught . I am still doing them until now.

I had progress coming from total dependence, I can now do a lot of activities, I never thought then that I can still do.

However, until now, my left hand, fingers, left leg and left toes are not yet straight. I have really been thinking if there is an exercise which can help me back to a good posture.

Previously, I had an impression that yoga is hard for me to do. But with what I saw on the video, with patience stretching your muscles and constant practicing, I can regain my posture. Of course I know that it is not an overnight process. I have work it out for 3 1/2 years until I came to my physical status. I want to move to the next level.

I am saying so because I see my muscles moving. I feel like I just need a next level strategy to achieve my dream. I am 49 years old now.  Do you think there are appropriate steps suited for me to start with, so I can strengthen my muscles more?

You can answer me here or private message me. Thanks

    • Hello Rose,

Thank you for reading my post.

      Yoga may help your situation.

Not a expert in your particular situation.

Meditation can help by connecting the nerves and brain together seriously worth trying on so many levels.

Have you ever tried acupuncture as a possible remedy for your condition.
