Privacy Policy

What we collect when you contact us, why we hold it, and the rights you have over it — including the specific rights you have if you live in the United States.

Who we are

This website is operated by Yogmandu, a yoga school in Kathmandu, Nepal, and presents the teaching of Arjuna (Yogi Arjun Rakhal). Where this policy says we, it means Yogmandu. You can reach us at info@yogmandu.com.

What we collect

We collect very little, and only what you hand us.

  • What you type into the enquiry form. Your name, email address, phone number if you give one, the subject you selected, and your message.
  • Ordinary server records. Like every website, ours sits behind a network provider that logs the IP address, browser and page requested for each visit. These are used to keep the site up and to block abuse.
  • A sign-in cookie, but only for staff. If you are not an administrator of this site, no account cookie is ever set for you.

We do not run advertising pixels, cross-site trackers or analytics profiling on this site. We do not buy personal information about you from anyone, and we have never sold or shared personal information for advertising.

Why we hold it

To answer your enquiry, to arrange a class, course or retreat you asked about, and to keep a record of what was agreed. That is the whole of it. We will not add you to a mailing list because you asked a question.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept while they are live and for a reasonable period afterwards so that we can pick up a conversation you return to, and so we have a record of bookings. If you ask us to delete your enquiry, we will, unless we are required to keep part of it for tax or accounting reasons.

Who else can see it

Two companies process data on our behalf, and neither uses it for their own purposes:

  • Supabase hosts the database your enquiry is stored in.
  • Cloudflare serves the website and filters malicious traffic.

We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to anyone else except where the law requires it.

Where your information goes

We are based in Nepal. If you contact us from the United States or anywhere else, your information will be transferred to and handled in Nepal and in the countries where the providers above operate. Nepal has not been assessed as offering the same statutory data-protection framework you may be used to at home. By sending us an enquiry you accept that transfer.

Your rights if you live in the United States

Several US states give residents specific rights over their personal information. We extend the rights below to every visitor from the United States, rather than asking you to prove which state you live in.

  • Know. Ask what personal information we hold about you and where it came from.
  • Access. Get a copy of it.
  • Delete. Ask us to erase it.
  • Correct. Ask us to fix anything inaccurate.
  • Opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of — but if that ever changed we would say so here first and provide a clear way to refuse.
  • No retaliation. We will not treat you differently, charge you more, or refuse to teach you because you exercised any of these rights.

These mirror the rights given by the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, and by the comparable laws in Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut and Utah.

Sensitive information. We do not ask for and do not want government identifiers, payment card numbers or health records through this website. If you choose to mention a health condition in your message so we can teach you safely, we use it only for that purpose.

How to make a request

Email info@yogmandu.com and say what you want us to do. We will answer within 45 days. We may ask you to confirm something only you and we would know — usually the email address you originally wrote from — so that we do not hand your information to someone else pretending to be you. An authorised agent may make a request for you with your written permission.

Children

This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us something, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date shown at the top of this page. If the change is substantial we will say what changed.
