Agreeing to these terms

By using this website, or by enrolling in a class, course, retreat or coaching arrangement with us, you agree to what follows. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or enrol.

Health, and the thing we most want you to read

Yoga is physical activity. Pranayama changes how you breathe. Both can carry risk.

  • We are teachers, not doctors. Nothing on this website and nothing said in a class is medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified clinician.
  • Talk to a doctor first if you are pregnant, recovering from surgery or injury, or living with a heart, lung, blood-pressure, neurological or psychiatric condition. Some pranayama techniques are specifically unsuitable in several of these situations.
  • Tell us what is going on. You are responsible for telling your teacher about any condition, injury or medication that could affect your practice, and for keeping us up to date if it changes.
  • Stop if it hurts. Practise within your own limits. Come out of anything that causes pain, dizziness or breathlessness, and tell the teacher.

You take part at your own risk, and you confirm that you are physically fit to do so.

Enrolment

A place is confirmed when we have accepted your booking in writing and received any deposit due. Prices shown on this site are in US dollars for international students and may be quoted in Nepali rupees for Nepali citizens. We may correct a price that is shown in error before you pay; you may withdraw without penalty if we do.

Course content, timetables and teaching staff may change where circumstances require it. Where a change is material we will tell you before the course begins.

Cancelling, and exchanging

Once your place is booked we hold it for you and stop offering it to anyone else, so bookings are not refundable. They are exchangeable: the full amount you paid becomes credit against any other teaching we offer, for twelve months. The detail — including what happens if your visa is refused, if there is a medical emergency, or if we are the ones who cancel — is set out in our refund and cancellation policy, which forms part of these terms.

Certification

Completing a teacher training with us makes you eligible to register with Yoga Alliance at the corresponding level. Registration itself is between you and Yoga Alliance, under their rules, and we cannot guarantee their decision. Certification requires attendance and completion of the course requirements — it is not granted by payment alone.

Travel, visas and insurance

If you are travelling to Nepal, flights, visas, travel insurance and vaccinations are yours to arrange. We will help with letters or information where we can, but we cannot reimburse a cancelled flight, a visa fee, or any other travel cost, whatever the reason the trip does not happen. We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation and medical treatment.

What happens to your booking with us if your visa is refused is a separate question, and a more generous one: see the refund and cancellation policy.

Your conduct

We ask that you treat teachers, staff and other students with respect, follow reasonable safety instructions, and respect the customs of the places we practise in. We may ask someone to leave a course without refund if their behaviour puts others at risk or makes teaching impossible.

What belongs to whom

The text, photographs, course manuals and design on this website belong to us or are used with permission. You may read, print and share them for your own personal use. You may not republish, sell or use them commercially without our written permission. Teaching materials given to you on a course are for your own study.

The website itself

We try to keep this site accurate and available, but we do not promise either absolutely. Content may be out of date, and the site may be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. Links to other websites are offered for convenience and we are not responsible for what is on them.

Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for loss of profit or opportunity, or for any loss arising from your failure to tell us about a health condition. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the course or service concerned.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Nepal, and the courts of Kathmandu have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not take away rights you have under the mandatory consumer law of your own country.
