Study with Arjuna from anywhere
You do not have to fly to Nepal to learn this properly. Every session below is taught live by Arjuna over video — not recorded, not a course you click through alone — and scheduled around your time zone, wherever in the United States you are.
Why live, not recorded
A recording cannot see you
Breathing technique is the part of yoga most often learned wrong, and it is almost impossible to self-correct. A video course cannot tell you that your shoulders lift on every inhale, that you are pulling instead of releasing, or that the ratio you are counting is not the one you are actually breathing. A teacher watching you can, in the first two minutes.
What runs online
Five ways to study online
Your time zone
Kathmandu is UTC+5:45
Nepal keeps a 45-minute offset, which catches people out. In practice the maths is simple: early morning in Kathmandu is a comfortable evening slot in the US, and the Kathmandu evening is a good American morning. We fix a recurring time with you rather than handing you a timetable.
| If you are in | Zone | Kathmandu is ahead by |
|---|---|---|
| New York | Eastern | 9h 45m |
| Chicago | Central | 10h 45m |
| Denver | Mountain | 11h 45m |
| Los Angeles | Pacific | 12h 45m |
Offsets shown are during US daylight saving time. Nepal does not observe daylight saving, so the gap shifts by an hour in November and March — your session time moves with it and we confirm the change with you.

Questions about studying online
Are the sessions live or recorded?
Live, every one of them. Recordings have their place for theory, but not for technique — a video cannot see that your shoulders are rising on the inhale. Sessions run in real time over video so Arjuna can watch and correct you as you practise.
Is the online teacher training the same certificate?
Yes. The online 200-hour program awards the same Yoga Alliance RYT 200 as the residential course in Kathmandu, and you register with Yoga Alliance the same way. It costs less simply because there is no room and board attached — see the teacher training page for current rates.
What time will my sessions be?
Whatever suits you. Kathmandu runs 9 hours 45 minutes ahead of New York and 12 hours 45 minutes ahead of Los Angeles, which means a US evening is early morning in Nepal and a US morning is the Kathmandu evening. Both are teaching hours here, so most US schedules can be met without anyone practising at an unreasonable time.
Do I need to be experienced?
No. The classes are taught one-to-one or in small groups, so the level is set by whoever is in the session rather than by a syllabus. Complete beginners are common.
What do I need at home?
A quiet room, somewhere firm to sit, a mat if you have one, and a camera positioned so the teacher can actually see your whole body. Nothing else.
Can I switch to studying in Nepal later?
Many people do exactly that — start online, then come for a retreat or the residential training once they know they want it. Hours studied online are recognised when you arrive.
